🎈This is not Jeju Island😕 nor the Maldives😕, it's Mulan Lake!
🎈It is also the largest reservoir in Wuhan that resembles a 'jelly sea'😃.
🎈Hidden in the lush mountains is a vast 'sea'🌊, with 32 islands scattered around👀. Along the lakeside, there are winding greenways🚶♂, convenient stations🚏, high-end homestays that look like art galleries🏠, museums filled with ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties🏯, and boats🛶 that allow you to get close to the islands.
🎈Whether you love camping🏕, cycling🚲, or just relaxing🛏, you will have a great time😜.
🎈We played for two days and found 3 ways to enjoy it:
🎯Way 1: Enjoy the ultimate 'island scenery'
👉'Xiajiasi Reservoir', recommended to arrive around 19:00🌅, when a cool breeze blows over the lake💨 and the sky starts showing a beautiful sunset, giving a full vacation vibe🤩.
👉If you want to get closer to the 'sea', it is recommended to take the last boat at 17:30, which goes deep into the lake and allows you to see the islands up close.
👉Buy tickets at the 'Mulan Lake Tourism Resort Service Center', walk about 2 minutes to the 'Mulan Lake Ferry' to board the boat. You can choose a wooden boat with windows for 30 yuan per person or a panoramic glass boat with air conditioning for 60 yuan per person.
👉The boat ride lasts about 40 minutes, passing by the car ferry dock, Qixing Island, and Sun Island. You can see free-range sheep🐑 on the islands and car ferry boats.
🎯Way 2: Relax by the lake
👉'Xieyang Laizhu·Mulan', a stunning high-end homestay located between the mountains and the lake, with a simple and modern design.
👉Large glass windows turn the natural scenery into hanging paintings, and every room has a view. Some rooms have great views where you can take a bath while looking out at Mulan Lake.
👉The second floor has a 'relaxation trio': hot springs♨, sauna (open in winter), and SPA treatments. There is a clear outdoor swimming pool in the courtyard where you can soak and count the stars at night✨.
🎯Way 3: Visit century-old houses
👉'Hubei Ming and Qing Ancient Architecture Museum' is like an elegant park, located by Mulan Lake, with lush trees🌳. Twelve ancient houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties, scattered across Hubei, have been relocated and rebuilt here like Lego pieces.
👉Open for free from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 - 17:00 (last entry at 16:00). Bring your ID card and wander around the old houses.
👉It takes about 1 hour to visit all 12 ancient buildings.
👉The most beautiful 'Chen Xianjia Ancestral Hall' has a courtyard facing Mulan Lake. Open the door to see the 'sea' and take stunning photos.
