Dangkou Ancient Town is free and open 24/7, so you can come and go as you please.
It's especially nice to go for a morning jog when there are fewer people. The emptiness of the town gave me the illusion that it was my own private backyard.
Dangkou Ancient Town boasts seven major attractions based on former residences of famous figures and cultural buildings, such as the Hua Family Ancestral Hall, Qian Mu's Former Residence, the Hua Hengfang Life Story Exhibition Hall, and the Wuxi Charity Museum.
The Wuxi Charity Museum is well worth a visit. It uses a combination of celebrity charity stories, key cultural relics, and digital displays to showcase Wuxi's culture of universal philanthropy.
When you're tired of walking, you can find a small shop and enjoy some local delicacies, such as mini shengjian, qianshi cake, tofu pudding, and Wuxi xiaolongbao. There are plenty of options. Or, find a tea house and relax with a cup of tea.
Of course, there's plenty of fun to be had in the ancient town. If you want to try Wuxi clay figurine painting, you can make one yourself at the Tang Palace Night Banquet. Be patient!
I also made a bracelet with some beads. It's not that I can't afford Chow Tai Fook, but Dangkou offers better value for money.
Finally, I highly recommend taking a boat tour of the ancient town at night! Dangkou Ancient Town lit up is next level!
The lights change with the rhythm of the music, sometimes soft, sometimes bright, creating a dynamic light show. There are sound systems on the boat and on the shore, creating a 360-degree surround sound effect for a fully immersive experience.
During the tour, the boatman also acts as a tour guide, pointing out filming locations for TV series.
"Quick, take a picture! This is the bridge from *Forever and Ever*!" "Get ready, the next one is the bridge from *A Dream of Splendor*!"
Let's just say, the entire trip was emotionally fulfilling! Dangkou Ancient Town keeps you entertained!
