Niutoushan National Forest Park Travel Guide

Transportation:

Take a high-speed train from Hangzhou East Railway Station to Wuyi North Railway Station, which takes about an hour. After getting off the train, drive for another hour and a half to reach Niutoushan National Forest Park. If you choose to drive, it will take about three and a half hours.

Dining recommendations:

At lunchtime, we accidentally found a restaurant in Wuyi County that was both affordable and delicious. Please see the attached picture for the specific location.

Accommodation experience:

We chose to stay at Niutoushan Meng Hot Spring Hotel at night. But to be honest, the hotel facilities are a bit old, and the check-in experience is average. The hot spring area is open from 6 pm to 11 pm. We wanted to relax, but the time was limited. The restaurant on the first floor of the hotel serves dinner until 8 pm (the specific time depends on the number of guests). As for breakfast, except for a few stir-fried dishes, most of the other dishes are semi-finished products heated up, and the taste is average.

Niutoushan highlights:

Niutoushan National Forest Park has beautiful scenery, and the Golden Lock Bridge is built between the cliffs. Those who are afraid of heights need to muster up the courage to move forward because there is an abyss under the bridge. Continue upwards, and you will find the Yixiantian Scenic Spot, where more than 300 steps are almost vertical, which is quite exciting. In addition, there is a glass plank road for tourists to challenge, but I didn't experience it because I was afraid of heights. The Taoist temple on the top of the mountain is still under construction, and the distant mountains are covered with snow, which is very beautiful.

The way down the mountain:

We chose a different route down the mountain, with clear streams and picturesque mountain views along the way. Walking between the cliffs, I was always on edge. There are fewer tourists in winter, and it is recommended that children under 6 years old go with caution and do what they can.

Summary:

Although there are some shortcomings in accommodation and dining, the natural scenery of Niutoushan National Forest Park is still fascinating. Whether it is the thrilling Golden Lock Bridge or the steep Yixiantian, it is unforgettable. If you love nature, adventure, and challenges, then Niutoushan is definitely worth a visit.
