A foolproof 2-day, 1-night Wuyuan itinerary for just 400 RMB per person - copy with confidence!

Having visited Wuyuan four times, I must say this National Geographic-recommended town never disappoints, always full of delightful surprises. This time, we departed from Wuhan on a perfect weekend weather for our 2-day Wuyuan getaway.

DAY1️⃣
7:00 AM Depart Wuhan by car 🚗 → 12:00 PM Lunch at Wuyuan Zhaoji Brother's Seafood Restaurant → 1:30 PM Xian'gao Ancient Town (dinner can be had here) → Wunvzhou (great snacks here too)
🏨 Accommodation
Huayu·Iris Tea Garden Resort Homestay

DAY2️⃣
Shangtan Village → Qingyuan Ancient Village (enjoy farmhouse cuisine here) → Return to Wuhan

📙 Highlights
✅ Xian'gao Ancient Town
Newly opened free attraction featuring Hui-style architecture with white walls and black tiles - every step offers photo opportunities. Jiangxi tourism really knows their stuff;
✅ Wunvzhou
The celestial palace described by Su Dongpo comes to life here. Best visited after 5 PM for breathtaking night views. Weekends feature fireworks, iron flower shows (origin place), and fire pots. For best photo spots, check my previous notes;
✅ Shangtan Village
Filming location for "I Am Not Madame Bovary". Features a famous camphor tree. This small, undeveloped village offers free roadside parking with bamboo raft rides at 30 RMB/person;
✅ Qingyuan Ancient Village
A secluded paradise with a 2000-year-old ancient tree. Stunning during spring when rapeseed flowers and peach blossoms bloom;

❤️ Tips
✅ Both self-driving and high-speed rail are convenient options. All attractions are relatively close with taxi-friendly access;
✅ Wuyuan cuisine is quite spicy - those sensitive to spice should remind restaurants to go easy on chili;
✅ Except for Wunvzhou (paid attraction), the other three sites are completely free.
