Flowers Falling in the Dream of Chang'an City (Part 2)——Xi'an·Wutai Yunju Temple

This place has always been a place for nuns to practice.
Different from other Buddhist temples that face south, this one faces west and east, with stairs going up from the mountain gate, one step higher than the other. This is where Emperor Taizong of Tang built five Buddhist temples to show his filial piety to his mother, modeled after the Southern Wutai Mountain, for his mother to pay homage. Because there are five high platforms in total, and they echo the Southern Wutai in Zhongnan Mountain, it is called the Western Wutai. Because auspicious clouds are often seen surrounding the temple for a long time, like the appearance of Bodhisattva, the temple is also called Yunju Temple.
💟Look here:
🌵The first platform is called the Temple of Subduing the Dragon Guanyin, and there is the Temple of Weituo in front of the platform.
🌵The second platform is called the Hall of the Five Great Bodhisattvas.
🌵The third platform is the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Hall.
🌵The fourth platform is the Maitreya Hall, and in front of the hall is the Old Mother Hall.
🌵The fifth platform is the Hall of Twelve-Armed Guanyin.
Doesn’t the layout look very unique?
💟Keep reading, there's more:
In the long river of time, Yunju Temple has been repeatedly attacked by wars, destroyed in the smoke of gunpowder, and reborn in the midst of reconstruction. However, it has managed to carve out a path through the vicissitudes of life, with both bitterness and sweetness, standing before you and me thousands of years later. The remaining halls of Yunju Temple retain the "hard-roofed" architectural style of the Song Dynasty, especially the reclining Buddha statue in the Reclining Buddha Hall, which is a rare Ming Dynasty statue.
📌TIPS:
📍Location: Just search for Xiwutai Yunju Temple on the navigation.
💰Tickets: Free
⏰️Visit duration: 1-2 hours
❇️Nearby:
🌈Guangren Temple (the only Green Tara temple in the country): It can be reached by riding northwest for 7 minutes.
🌈Yunju Temple is located south of the Sajin Bridge intersection, so it is very close to Sajin Bridge and Huimin Street and can be reached on foot. You can taste the very distinctive Shaanxi Muslim food: Zhengao, persimmon cake, roujiamo, shuipen mutton, cold skin, mung bean cake, mutton soup steamed bun, etc. I recommend eating at Sajinqiao, which is cheaper than Huimin Street and tastes better.
