Xiamen | Gulangyu Island | Gulangyu in Overcast Weather Has Its Own Charm

Everyone says that if you come to Xiamen and don't visit Gulangyu Island, it's like you haven't been to Xiamen at all. Well, I had to make a trip to Gulangyu Island.

The weather on the day I arrived wasn't great; it was heavily overcast. But actually, I quite like Gulangyu in overcast weather. Without the glaring, scorching sun, Gulangyu captured through my camera lens had a kind of desolate and misty beauty. Before coming, I did my homework and specifically chose places that tourists don't usually visit, which turned out to be a refreshing experience.

From my photos, it's not hard to see that I have a soft spot for greenery XD. The green landscaping on Gulangyu is very well done. If you, like me, enjoy quiet strolls, I recommend arriving on the island before 9 AM on weekdays. There aren't many tourists, and you can hear the morning birdsong, which is truly refreshing.

I also had a reservation to watch the organ performance on the island that day. It's said to be the largest organ performance center in the world. Sitting inside and listening to the theme song from 'Interstellar,' I felt that the trip was totally worth it.
