We stepped into Zhongde Temple just as the air turned still, the courtyard framed by old trees and the soft hush of incense trailing in the breeze 🌳🕯️🛕. The temple stood quiet but assured, red walls and curved eaves resting under the weight of years. A few monks moved silently between halls, their robes brushing against stone, their presence as steady as the temple itself.
We wandered deeper, past carved wooden doors and weathered statues, until the sound of a distant bell broke the silence low and full, like time stretching out and folding back again 🔔🍃. Zhongde Temple didn’t speak loudly. It rested, watching the city grow beyond its gates, holding a kind of peace that felt older than memory and quieter than thought 📜🌬️.
