Xiamen Botanical Garden

The last time I took my mother abroad (to Kansai, Japan) was ten years ago. She'd always refused, citing reasons like poor health and knee issues. This time, I finally convinced her! Xiamen is close to Taiwan, we speak the language, and transportation is convenient. Plus, seniors over 60 get free subway fares (you'll need to change your card), free entrance fees, and discounted airfare and ferry fares from Taichung to Kinmen to Xiamen. After explaining all this to her, this usually frugal mom finally agreed to go with me!
What was the itinerary? Xiamen Island is small, so taxis are easily available. I took my mother to various attractions: the Botanical Garden, the Flower and Bird Market, Shapowei, Nanputuo Temple, Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, the Eight Market Market, Zengcuoan, and of course, a boat trip to Gulangyu Island. We also visited Jimei School Village and Brahma Temple off the island, and later, the ancient cities of Quanzhou and Zhangzhou.
The destination for this trip wasn't really important to me anymore. Since I'll only be able to travel with my mother a few times in the future, the time we spent together during the trip is what will remain in my memories forever. #Xiamen
