Under the corridor of Xiayuan, trumpet creepers bloom purple, a summer of pure joy coloring the passage of time

The cicadas' chirping blends with the heat of southern Fujian, and the bluestone path of Zhongshan Park is slightly cool from the morning dew. Walking to the northwest corner, a covered corridor suddenly comes into view—the vermilion corridor pillars are stained with the moss of time, and beneath the dark-tiled eaves, trumpet creeper flowers cascade like a waterfall. The orange-red petals wrap around creamy white stamens, swaying in the wind to cast delicate shadows, resembling cinnabar blurs in an ancient painting.

The wooden beams of the corridor still bear old carvings; the peony patterns have been weathered smooth by wind and rain. The trumpet creeper vines wind along these patterns, weaving the withered wood and vibrant flowers into a three-dimensional brocade. Sunlight filters through the gaps in the leaves and flowers, casting mottled golden fragments under the corridor. Occasionally, elderly people carrying birdcages pass by during morning exercise, and the chirping of birds inside the cages mingles with the soft sound of falling petals, evoking a Zen-like serenity reminiscent of "the cicadas' noise makes the forest even quieter." Looking closely, last year's withered leaves are still hidden among the vines. The intertwining of old and new marks the passage of time—perhaps this is the gentleness of Xiamen, where even the flowers and plants know how to embrace time tenderly.

Strolling along the corridor, fingertips brush the pillars soaked in floral shadows, and even the summer heat seems to fade a little. Not far away, among the rockeries of the artificial hill, several bougainvillea plants peek out, complementing the passion of the trumpet creepers and spreading a harmonious blend of colors. Recalling Lin Yutang’s description of Xiamen, "with mountains and water, flowers and trees, a mild climate, it is an ideal place to live," it is only now that I understand this ideal is hidden in the simple joy of flowers and trees in these ordinary alleys.

As the sun rises higher, leaving Zhongshan Park and following the scent of grass and trees, you arrive at the Jinjiang Inn Plus Airport T4 Jimei Aesthetic Village store in Xiamen. It is recommended to stay here for easy access to continue exploring the old city charm and cultural atmosphere of Xiamen the next day.
