A poetic fairyland, Li Bai’s dreamlike Tianmu Mountain

Shenxianju was formerly known as Tianmu Mountain, also called Weiqiang Mountain. The famous Tang dynasty poet Li Bai’s poem “Dreaming of Tianmu Mountain and Leaving” vividly depicts the magical scenery of Shenxianju.

The poem’s many mystical images—“rainbow as clothes, wind as horse, the lord of clouds descending in flurry; tiger playing the zither, phoenix circling the chariot, immortals lined up like hemp”—all find their counterparts in Shenxianju, leaving visitors amazed at the prophetic vision of Li Bai’s poetry and the magical match with Shenxianju.

Shenxianju boasts excellent ecology, fresh air, and an extraordinarily high concentration of negative oxygen ions, averaging 21,000 per cubic centimeter, with the highest points reaching 88,000 per cubic centimeter, making it a true natural oxygen bar.

The park fully utilizes Shenxianju’s exceptional rock walls and forest resources, offering outdoor activities such as via ferrata climbing, jungle crossing, and slacklining. These activities are scientifically arranged from easy to difficult, combining aerobic exercise with thrilling experiences to form a beautiful and unique “outdoor paradise.”

Since 2014, Shenxianju has continuously hosted global high-altitude slackline challenges and China-Korea mountaineering conferences, successfully establishing a series of event IPs.

Thoughtful travel tips

Best route: The scenic area has two main entrances, south and north, connected by the Nantian and Beihai cable cars. It is recommended to ascend via the Beihai cable car and descend via the Nantian cable car, with several kilometers of the journey on plank roads hundreds of meters above the ground.

A decade of transformation, a promising future

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Shenxianju’s designation as a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Over the past decade, this once “hidden gem” mountain destination has transformed into a “viral landmark” welcoming over 2 million visitors annually.

Looking ahead, Shenxianju has outlined a new ten-year plan: accelerating development of the West Tianmen and Gongyu scenic areas through expansion and quality improvement, creating three core touring zones: Nantianmen, Xitianmen-Fanzhengyan, and Gongyu.

The plan aims to expand the touring area from 35 to 60 square kilometers, increase daily visitor capacity to 70,000, and strive to achieve an annual visitor volume of 5 million and annual revenue of 1 billion yuan.
