Lijiaxi Village in Xinchang, the Shaoxing version of "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains"

Hidden deep in the mountains of Xinchang, Shaoxing, Zhejiang, lies a quaint, primitive and picturesque mountain village. It can be said that the scenery is around the village, and the village is in the middle of the scenery. This is Lijiaxi Village, where the first of the Salt Gang’s Eighteen Crossings is located.

Lijiaxi Village is located in the northern part of Xiaojiang Town, adjacent to Qiaoying Reservoir in the east. The clear Jugen River runs beside the village, forming the unique topography of "eight mountains, one water and one field" in this ancient mountain village.

Water brings life. The beauty of Lijiaxi Village lies in its clear stream. The stream in front of the village is relatively wide, and with two stone dams, the mountain village, which lives by the water, presents a beautiful artistic conception like Huang Gongwang's "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains", a vivid landscape painting.

When I first entered the village, I mistakenly thought that the two stone dams with stepping bridges were the first and second crossings of the Salt Gang's Eighteen Crossings. Walking downstream all the way to Shuidui Ferry, I realized that the stone dam in front of the village was not qualified to join the ranks of the Eighteen Ferry crossings. I found that people in Xinchang may not like to decorate the village, but they particularly like to beautify the stream. Lijiaxi Village is particularly outstanding in this regard.

I heard that the village is bustling with traffic every weekend. You can drive all the way to the parking lot next to the First Ferry Terminal. However, I still recommend starting your tour from the Longxi Bridge at the entrance of the village, otherwise you will miss some of the beautiful scenery of Lijiaxi Village.

There are several farmhouse restaurants in the village, as well as a dedicated barbecue area. There are also several quaint and beautiful homestays in the village, built on the embankment on one side of Jugen Creek, with intoxicating scenery everywhere. Among them is one called the Salt Gang Inn, which is full of martial arts style.

"Watch the flowers bloom and fall in the courtyard, and the clouds roll and unfold in the sky." After a busy day at work, you can take a break in the picturesque Lijiaxi Village.
