Xining People's Park｜The Green Reception Hall of the Plateau Summer Capital

Xining People's Park is located on the banks of the Huangshui River in the urban area and is the most renowned comprehensive park in Qinghai Province. As the first modern garden in this ancient plateau city, it has been like a kind elder, carrying the memories of Xining residents for sixty years. The park is shaded with lush greenery, with pavilions and waterside terraces complementing each other. Tibetan-style corridors and Han-style arch bridges are cleverly integrated, and every scene tells the story of the fusion and coexistence of multi-ethnic cultures.

The park's most eye-catching feature is the largest artificial lake in Northwest China—the Emerald Lake, covering an area of 4.6 hectares. In summer, visitors can take colorful boats for a ride, while in winter it transforms into a natural ice rink. The Tibetan-style gallery’s paintings narrate the epic of "King Gesar," and the annual tulip exhibition in May attracts millions of visitors, with 300,000 flowers forming a splendid sea of blossoms. The "Source of Rivers" sculpture group vividly showcases the ecology of the Three Rivers Source, making it a popular photo spot. Admission is free year-round. The park’s special barley sweet wine (5 RMB/bowl) and yak yogurt (8 RMB/cup) are worth trying. A recommended visit duration is 2-3 hours.

Complete Transportation Guide
The park is located at No. 72 Shengli Road, Chengxi District, with very convenient transportation. Take bus routes 1, 15, or 34 and get off at the "People's Park" stop; a taxi from the train station takes about 15 minutes (costing 12-15 RMB); self-driving visitors can use the underground parking lot at the park’s east gate (3 RMB for the first hour, 1 RMB for each additional hour). At night, it is recommended to take sightseeing bus route 104 to enjoy the dazzling night views along both sides of the Huangshui River.
