City Vibes with a Mountain Backdrop

#chinatravel Urumqi totally surprised me, it’s this energetic, colorful city right in the heart of Xinjiang, with snow-capped mountains literally chilling in the background. The mix of modern city life and rich cultural vibes makes it super fun to explore. One minute you’re shopping in a fancy mall, the next you’re snacking on lamb skewers at a local night market. Love it.

The Xinjiang International Bazaar is a must, so many cool stalls, live music, and delicious food. I tried naan fresh out of a tandoor and some dried fruits that were chef’s kiss. The streets are full of life, but it never felt overwhelming.

Also took a little trip out to Red Hill Park for views of the city and a quiet stroll. Super chill. And with the mountains always in the background, it feels like the best of both worlds, urban energy with nature right there.

If you’re heading through Xinjiang, don’t sleep on Urumqi. It’s lively, friendly, and full of surprises.
