#chinatravel Spent some time exploring Yarkand Town in Xinjiang Province and it was way more interesting than I expected. It’s not super touristy, which makes it feel really authentic and relaxed. The streets are lined with old buildings, little courtyards, and trees that give off a super cozy vibe.
I wandered through the old part of town and checked out the Yarkand King’s Tomb which was actually really peaceful and beautiful. The carvings and details were insane. Also stopped by a local market where I grabbed some naan fresh out of the oven and a cup of local milk tea that hit the spot.
There’s a lot of history in this place but it doesn’t feel overly polished or commercial. It’s just real life happening in a historic setting. Locals were kind and curious but not pushy at all.
If you’re into slower travel with a local feel, Yarkand is a great spot to explore. Take it easy, try the food, and enjoy the mellow atmosphere.
