Brave the Ailao Mountains

When visiting Yuxi, Yunnan, don’t just stick to Fuxian Lake—Ailao Mountain is an absolutely magical hidden paradise! Mist-shrouded primeval forests and the spectacular Nan'en Waterfall make every snapshot look like a blockbuster scene🌁

🌿Must-visit spots recommended:
1️⃣ Yunnan Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve
📍Address: Middle to northern section of the Ailao Mountain Range, Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County, Yuxi City
⏰Opening hours: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Stroll through the ancient forest canopy that blocks out the sun, feeling like you’ve entered a natural oxygen bar. Remember to wear non-slip shoes, as the stone steps can be slippery after rain. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some wild animals!

2️⃣ Nan'en Waterfall
Located within the Ailao Mountain scenic area, this nearly 100-meter-high silver cascade is truly breathtaking. Standing on the viewing platform, the mist hits your face, bringing refreshing coolness. The best time to visit is between 3-4 PM when the sunlight slants, often creating sudden rainbows🌈

✨Travel tips:
▫️Be sure to bring a jacket! The mountain temperature is 5-8°C cooler than the city
▫️Recommended to visit during the rainy season (June-September) when the waterfall is at its fullest
▫️Drone enthusiasts must register in advance; some areas are no-fly zones
▫️Limited dining options in the scenic area, so bring your own snacks
▫️About a 1.5-hour drive from Xinping County town, suitable for a day trip
