In my impression, if Eslite Bookstore is strong yet with a hint of softness, then Zhongshuge is soft yet with a hint of strongness. One is a tough guy with a soft heart. One is as graceful as a swimming dragon.

The designers of Zhongshuge in every city use the history of the city, the regional significance of the bookstore, and the different scenery of the four seasons to pave the way for each of our different dreams of reading in our youth. It takes us back to a certain fragment in the past - the sun shines on the leaves, revealing dots of light on the ground. It seems like the autumn of a certain city, and the ground is covered with leaves of sycamore trees. Walking on the rustling leaves, there is a creaking sound. We once read so beautifully and greedily.

In fact, the biggest problem facing Chinese bookstores now is that they lack the foundation of time. When Eslite Bookstore first opened, it had no cultural heritage, but 30 years later, it had "culture" and "content". Therefore, time, persistence, and historical accumulation are very important.

The best bookstores in the world, like Shakespeare and Company in Paris, and some old bookstores in Portugal, Argentina and the Netherlands, are great because of the heritage of time. Their high-quality buildings all have a history, and the traces of history are integrated into the soul of the bookstore. That heaviness instead brings a deeper respect, a respect for the ritual sense of books and bookstores.
The Model Bookstore in Beijing is perfectly integrated with the church, and has taken the Republican style to the extreme. It is also a transformation after awakening. However, I feel that it still lacks some unique business philosophy, comfort and warmth, and is a little weak.
