Liulianling, located 60 kilometers north of Wancheng Town in Wanning, is known for its six interconnected peaks, known in ancient times as "Lianfengs Soaring Green." It is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Wanzhou. Liulianling offers a unique landscape. Looking up from the foot of the ridge, one can see towering peaks rising in a row. From afar, the six peaks, shrouded in mist, resemble six graceful and charming young ladies. Lush forests, abundant water and grasses create a rich tropical rainforest, making it a truly unique natural botanical wonderland in Hainan Province. Even more captivating is the countless deep ravines and caves within Liulianling, once a gathering place for deer and elk.
This was once the site of a revolutionary base established by the Qiongya Revolutionary Movement during its 23-year armed struggle, and a major landmark of Hainan's revolution. To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs of Hainan during the Great Revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the War of Liberation, the Party and government built the Liulianling Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery in 1961, located at the southern foot of the Five Peaks of Liulianling. The cemetery houses a monument and a memorial pavilion. It is also a renowned patriotic education center in Hainan.
