I Finally Found This Super Cool Hotel in Xuzhou!

Full Review of My Stay at the Xuzhou Marriott Hotel: Highlights and Areas for Improvement

I took a special forces-style trip to Xuzhou for the weekend and stayed one night at the Xuzhou Marriott Hotel. It was an eventful stay, and I'm here to share the details with everyone.

🏨 Hotel Overview

Location

The hotel has an excellent location right on the edge of Yunlong Lake, with many attractions nearby and easily accessible. Whether you choose to walk or use other transportation, you can easily reach various attractions and enjoy the city scenery of Xuzhou.

🏘️ Room Type/Layout

I contacted the hotel in advance to request a lake view suite, but due to room availability, I was only upgraded to a corner room. The corner room had plenty of sunlight because the hotel isn't too tall and Yunlong Lake is directly in front, providing an unobstructed view. The room was very warm. However, there are some design issues with the corner room. The curtains next to the bathtub allow people to see into the room behind, which is a privacy concern. My friend could see me by the window from downstairs. Also, the curtain switch is next to the window, not by the bed, which is inconvenient. The toilet room is small, and you have to close the door to sit down completely. In comparison, the lake view king room doesn't have as expansive a view.

🛌 Amenities/Facilities

1. Room facilities: The mattress was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. However, there was no smart toilet, and the pillows were not available in different heights, which is not ideal for people with specific sleeping habits. Mineral water was provided in the room, but the attitude of the cleaning staff varied. Some were very generous, while others complained.
2. Soundproofing: The soundproofing in the room was poor. The sounds of the neighbors ringing the doorbell, pulling the curtains, showering, and flushing the toilet could be heard clearly, which to some extent affected the rest and privacy of guests.

🧹 Soundproofing/Hygiene

The overall cleanliness was good. The room was cleaned well, and the public areas were also kept tidy. However, the soundproofing was indeed a shortcoming, and I hope the hotel can improve it.

💗 Other Tips

1. Communicate your needs to the hotel in advance, such as upgrading your room type or requesting special facilities. Although they may not be able to fully meet your requests, the hotel will do its best to coordinate.
2. Xuzhou's attractions are concentrated, but walking long distances can be tiring. Prepare some comfortable shoes, or choose convenient transportation methods such as shared bikes.
3. When trying Xuzhou cuisine, refer to the recommendations of local residents to avoid disappointment.

Service Experience

The front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating. The next afternoon, I had something to do and couldn't check out on time. After communicating with the front desk, I successfully postponed the check-out time. The service response speed and problem-solving ability were commendable.

Dining Experience

Xuzhou's specialty flatbread and spicy soup with fried dough sticks were available, but the variety was limited. There are many restaurants nearby, but in my personal experience, the barbecue and rice noodles I tried were average, possibly because I didn't choose the right places.

With its excellent location and good service, the Xuzhou Marriott Hotel has its own unique appeal. Despite some shortcomings in room design, amenities, and soundproofing, it is still a viable option for staying in Xuzhou. I hope the hotel can address these issues and provide guests with a better experience.
