Yancheng|The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dayang Bay that changed my perception

In my impression, DoubleTree by Hilton is usually a business hotel one level below Hilton. But a few days ago, I stayed one night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dayang Bay in Yancheng. The richness and high quality of this resort hotel absolutely reached flagship standards, truly overturning my perception of this brand.

The hotel is located beside the picturesque Dayang Bay, not far from Nanyang Airport. In the evening, traveling from Yancheng Station to the hotel, you can still see the sunset. The hotel overall adopts a garden style with white walls and black tiles. Two Luohan pines stand on either side of the lobby, with glazed golden fragments cascading from the ceiling. The lobby bar offers a happy hour in the evening, and the grand piano and huge teddy bear attract attention. The gym on the same floor has anaerobic separation, and the heated swimming pool is paired with a hot spring pool, making the facilities impeccable.

Walking to the outdoor garden, the breeze lifts the curtains of the four-cornered pavilion. Lotus flowers bloom on the lake spanned by a long bridge. The wedding lawn is lush and green. Black swans swim and raise their young among the pavilions and waterside terraces, with the sound of flowing water nearby. The symmetrical corridor pillars on both sides of the conference area perfectly showcase Chinese aesthetics. The layered and staggered landscape design reflects the designer’s thoughtfulness. Guests can also play badminton and basketball at the wellness center in the middle of the garden.

This time I stayed in the Garden View King Room. Upon check-in, I received a freshly baked cookie as a special welcome gift. The room starts at 45 square meters, with a dry and wet separated bathroom area, a rain shower combined with a separate bathtub, and six custom toiletries. The king bed offers a choice of soft or firm pillows, the TV supports screen casting, and the smart alarm clock on the bedside table also supports wireless charging. Sitting on the window-side sofa or the terrace lounge chair, you can overlook the garden view. Personally, I prefer the villa type. Besides having an independent living room and a larger bathroom area, the villa also has a small courtyard with an outdoor private hot spring and a waterside private outdoor platform. Honestly, the price is not high, but it is luxurious enough.

The quality of the hotel breakfast is equally impressive. The egg station can make egg rolls and Eggs Benedict. The noodle station offers duck blood vermicelli soup and local specialty fish soup noodles. There is even a stall for freshly cooked congee. There are as many as seven kinds of breakfast buns alone, and pancakes and waffles are also readily available. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant not only serves Huaiyang cuisine but also experiments with fusion dishes. The decoration of the private rooms is also exquisite and charming.

Compared to the Hilton Hotel in downtown Yancheng, I believe this DoubleTree hotel better represents the highest level of the group locally. One night is hardly enough to fully savor this hotel. If not for the busy mundane affairs and tight schedule, I would really want to stay here for a while, lie down in the hotel, stroll around Dayang Bay, and completely relax.
