Banyan Tree Yangshuo – Moonlit BBQs, Mountain Views & Memories for a Lifetime

Banyan Tree in Fuli Town - Honestly, it was unreal. We stayed in one of the villas — tucked away in the karst mountains — and it felt like something out of a painting.

One of the absolute highlights? A private BBQ under the moonlight. Not even joking — the hotel set it all up, gave us their local version of insect repellent (yes, it included snake gallbladder, welcome to China 😂) — and we just sat there, grilling under the stars with the soft breeze rolling in off the river. Mozzies were everywhere, sure, but you forget all that when you’re staring at that sky. Stars for days.

The indoor Chinese restaurant was also brilliant — proper flavourful food, beautiful setting, and honestly, some of the best meals we had on the trip.

The concierge team? Top marks. They organised a traditional Cormorant Bird Fishing show for us — absolutely fascinating to watch, and also sorted us out with a peaceful boat trip on the river earlier that day. Everything felt seamless.

The whole stay was one of those rare, magical travel moments — peaceful, a bit surreal, and genuinely memorable. One for the books.
