Cruise the Yangzhou Ancient Canal at night and enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine

Yangzhou in March, fireworks in full bloom. Although I didn't arrive in March, when the flowers are in full bloom, the beauty of Yangzhou's ancient canal is absolutely not to be missed. From Dongguan Wharf, there are two different prices for a daytime cruise: a daytime cruise of approximately RMB 120 per person. At night, due to the costumed personnel and light and sound performances along the riverbank, the price increases to RMB 168 per person (138 for those over 65). While it's not cheap, it's definitely worth the night cruise experience.

⛴️ Location: Board the boat at Dongguan Ancient Ferry Wharf. The first boat departs at 7:30 PM and the second at 8:30 PM. Ticket checking and boarding begin an hour before departure.

📌 Tips:

1) You can board the boat and reserve your seat starting one hour before ticket checking. It's recommended to sit on the left front of the second-floor open-air seating, as the boat will turn and head forward. Many of the performances will be on the left side, while the view from the front will be stunning, reflecting the light show on the bridge.

2) The performances take place on the river on the outbound leg, and the commentary is provided on the return leg. Even in summer, the breeze from the river won't keep you warm, but there will be mosquitoes, so be prepared.

3) After disembarking, you can stroll along Dongguan Street and enjoy lotus root starch dumplings before returning home.

🥣 Dinner: Michelin-starred restaurant "Fanshui Long Fish (Jiefang North Road Branch)"—the long fish noodles with toppings are a must-try. The toppings are incredibly fragrant, especially the milky white fish broth, sprinkled with pepper, which is incredibly refreshing and sweet. Enjoy a bowl of long fish noodles before your nighttime cruise on the Ancient Canal. Then, slowly walk to Dongguan Wharf (about a 20-minute walk). You'll definitely want more! (P.S. The owner himself is in charge of the restaurant and is very proud of his food. I originally wanted to add chili peppers, but he said, "Whatever I serve you is the best flavor, no additional seasoning is needed." After taking a bite, I found the reputation is well-deserved! The owner's confidence is justified!)
