Chaoyang Street (朝阳街) and Suochengli (所城里) in Yantai are iconic old town tourist destinations where rich history and modern charm coexist. These two areas are connected by a walkable path, making it convenient to explore both, each offering its own distinct appeal.

Chaoyang Street was established during the Qing Dynasty and later developed into a modern commercial street with the introduction of Western-style architecture after the port opened. Today, it has been remodeled into a pedestrian-friendly shopping street lined with charming cafes, traditional snack shops, and handicraft stores. While the street is not very large, it is perfect for a leisurely stroll. During the day, visitors can enjoy peaceful shopping and walking, while at night, the neon signs and illuminated shopfronts create a lively atmosphere.

Connected to Chaoyang Street is Suochengli, a walled area originally built during the Ming Dynasty for coastal defense and considered the birthplace of Yantai city. Some parts of the city gate and walls have been restored, and the narrow alleys are adorned with classical-style buildings and red lanterns, exuding a serene ambiance. Recently, traditional shops, art spaces, and exhibition halls have been established here, transforming it into a cultural street where the past and present harmoniously blend.

These two locations, where visitors can experience historical traces during the day and enjoy beautifully lit streets at night, offer a glimpse into both the past and present of Yantai.
