Hongcun Village – Preserving 900 Years of Chinese Elegance

In 2000, Hongcun, along with the nearby Xidi Village, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title “Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui – Xidi and Hongcun”. UNESCO recognized the villages for their:

“exceptional preservation of traditional village architecture and layout, and their insight into rural life in pre-modern China.”
