3 Days and 3 Nights Exploring Yichang with Kids｜Finding the Meaning Behind Poems I Couldn't Understand as a Child

Not understanding Li Bai's "The monkeys on both banks keep crying, but the light boat has already passed thousands of mountains"🍃, it wasn't until I stayed in Yichang for 3 days that I truly understood how magnificent the Three Gorges described by the poetic immortal really are! Seize the last bit of the holiday, escape Nanchang with the kids for three days, and set off with the whole family "charged up"⚡️

✨Day 1: Three Gorges Waterfall (Xinpeng Village, Huanghua Township, Yiling District)
🚅 Morning high-speed train, 5 hours direct to Yichang East Station
🚌 Book a tour one day in advance (available on Trip.com), arrive at the visitor center by 3 PM
💰 Recommend spending 20 yuan to take the electric cart into the scenic area
👶 Must bring for kids: raincoat + slippers (also sold at the entrance)
⏰ Head straight to the waterfall after entering, about 30-40 minutes walk
🌈 The waterfall in the afternoon is super stunning! If lucky, you might even see a rainbow
💦 Perfect for playing in the water and cooling off! The little ones will be overjoyed～

✨Day 2: Two Dams and One Gorge (recommend booking a day tour on Trip.com)
🚌 Gather at the visitor center at 7 AM - 1 hour to the dam scenic area
🔒 Note: Private cars without permits cannot enter!
Tour route:
🏞 Tanziling → 185 Observation Deck → Interception Memorial Park
🚢 Board the cruise after lunch
💰 Charges apply for 2nd and 3rd floors; we booked a 2nd-floor box seat
⏳ 5-hour cruise + lock passage experience of "water lowering, boat lowering"
📸 Remember to rush to the stern to capture the moment the lock gates close!

✨Day 3: Self-drive on G348, the Most Beautiful Geological Road
🚗 Rent a car in advance on Trip.com
📍 Route: Yichang city → Fenggu → Shanwaishan → Ganzigou Bridge → Liantuopan → Niuganmafei Gorge → Yingzuiyan
🛣 Total 100 kilometers, drive and explore along the way
⚠️ Yingzuiyan is outside the filming area but be sure to stay safe!

🍜 Food Wall Recommendations:
✔️ Spicy Pork Intestine Noodles (full of flavor)
✔️ Beef Buns (the chili oil is amazing)
✔️ Cold Shrimp Jelly (osmanthus flavor is very refreshing)
✔️ Radish Dumplings (freshly fried and fragrant but can be a bit heating)
❌ Fat Fish (try if in a crowd, personally not recommended)

💡 Tips for Traveling with Kids:
1️⃣ Stroller is a must! The scenic areas require a lot of walking
2️⃣ August is still quite hot, so take good heat prevention measures
3️⃣ Don’t pack the itinerary too full, allow kids time to rest
4️⃣ Bring plenty of snacks to soothe moods
