Zhaoping Lake, formerly known as Zhaopingtai Reservoir, is located in Lushan County, Henan Province. It originated during the Battle of Kunyang between Emperor Guang of Han, Liu Xiu, and Wang Mang. Liu Xiu paid homage to his ancestor, Liu Lei, and then built a platform to recruit soldiers. With its beautiful landscape and cultural attractions, it is a popular tourist destination in the Central Plains, offering a variety of recreational opportunities, including recuperation, vacations, leisure activities, tracing the Liu family's roots, and entertainment.
Zhaoping Lake stretches as far as the eye can see, its water and sky blending into one. The scenic area is renowned for its scenic spots and historical sites, including the exquisitely crafted Sister-in-Law Stone, which comes alive with moving stories. The vibrant sunset glow of Pinghu Lake, boating on the water, enjoying a glass of wine in the breeze, gazing up at the blue sky and white clouds, gazing at the rolling green mountains, and looking down at the emerald green waters, is a scene that makes one forget all humiliation and bring a sense of relaxation and joy.
The reservoir boasts Jinshan Island, Gusao Stone, the ruins of Liu Leiyi (a city of the Xia Dynasty), and the ancient Qia Suo Qiugong City in Luyang. With mountains nestled in the water and water within the mountains, Shiren Mountain and Zhaoping Lake complement each other, creating a unique and spectacular scenery. The water and sky merge into one, surrounded by verdant peaks, birdsong, and fragrant flowers, creating a poetic and picturesque scene.
