Wushi Fishing Harbor

🏞️ Wushi Fishing Harbor, located in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, gets its name from the black reefs within the harbor. Once the largest port in the Lanyang region, it was historically a bustling hub for merchant ships, earning the nickname "Shigang Chunfan" and being listed as one of the eight scenic spots of Lanyang. However, a flood in 1878 and the grounding of an American ship in 1883 led to its decline. It wasn't until 1991 that the harbor was rebuilt and transformed into a recreational and tourist fishing port.

Today, the harbor blends tradition with tourism, featuring a fish market, whale-watching services (attracting around 300,000 visitors annually), and forming a cultural attraction cluster with the Lanyang Museum. The surrounding beaches, known for their excellent surfing conditions, have become a hotspot for water sports. Additionally, the annual Ghost Festival "Qianggu" event in the seventh lunar month showcases the area's rich folk traditions.
