Bozhu Mountain, located 77 kilometers west of Wenshan City, reaches a peak of 2,991 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in southeastern Yunnan. Composed of 22 mountain ridges, 21 valleys, seven streams, and two springs, the mountain covers a total area of 76 square kilometers. It faces Laojun Mountain to the southeast and borders Pingbian County of the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture at Xiaqingmenkou to the west. Northward, it extends through two subtropical rainforests, ending at Baiyi Village at an altitude of 1,750 meters. Eastward, it crosses several mountain ridges to Yangyupo.
The highest peak of Bozhu Mountain is Shuangru Peak. Beneath the peak lies a vast forest of ancient trees, forming three layers of natural vegetation. The forest floor is covered with humus and moss, reaching a thickness of over 30 centimeters. The forest is home to many ancient and valuable trees, including the rare long-stamen magnolia; the rare alpine magnolia, red-flowered magnolia, fragrant magnolia, Yunnan magnolia, bitter Michelia, fragrant Michelia, and bright-leaved Michelia. Interspersed among the forest are exotic flowers and plants that shimmer like clouds.
Over 50 species of orchids bloom year-round: in spring, the Double Flying Swallow, Duoduoxiang, Spring Black Orchid, and White Heart Orchid burst into bloom; in summer, the Fire Orchid and Bamboo Leaf Orchid waft their fragrance; in autumn, the Autumn Orchid and Autumn Black Orchid are refreshing; and in winter, the Phalaenopsis, Cold Orchid, Lotus Orchid, Agarwood Tiger Orchid, Jade Tiger Orchid, and Primrose Orchid welcome the spring with their buds. Colorful azalea trees grow throughout the mountains and plains, blooming from spring to autumn.
The climate is mid-subtropical monsoon; there are more than 50 kinds of orchids in Bozhu Mountain, which bloom all year round; various rhododendrons bloom from spring to autumn, covering the entire mountain with strange colors, making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
