A super comprehensive guide to Yinchuan-Zhongwei for your upcoming short holiday

1️⃣ Zhongwei is not suitable for budget travel. If you're traveling with kids, I recommend staying once at the Zhongwei Desert Star Hotel! The kids will definitely love it!!
2️⃣ The Western Xia Imperial Tombs, Helan Mountain Rock Paintings, and Ningxia Museum are worth 💡 taking the kids to. The combination of culture and hands-on experience is great.
3️⃣ When playing in the desert, bring a straw-type insulated cup 🥣. It's more convenient for drinking water and can prevent sand from getting into the cup.
4️⃣ Zhongwei has a big temperature difference between day and night. You can wear short sleeves during the day, but wear a windbreaker in the morning and evening. If it rains all day, the windbreaker can still feel cold! Be sure to bring sunglasses and a sun protection mask, as the wind and sand are very strong!
5️⃣ The best family hotel in Zhongwei is the Star ✨ Hotel. The facilities are indeed good, but the price is also quite high!
6️⃣ You should try the Yellow River Hostel; you won’t regret it! It’s more comfortable than the Star Hotel and perfect for moms who love taking photos. You can get amazing shots in no time 📸.
7️⃣ Although I think Shapotou is a must-visit, it’s where the show "Where Are We Going, Dad?" was filmed. The area is really large, divided into desert and Yellow River zones, with many activities. If your kids are tall enough and love to play, Shapotou is the most professional 👍, with good quality and you can queue up without hesitation!
8️⃣ Be sure to do thorough research before coming. Don’t be tempted by low-priced tours (for kids, I recommend family tours). Remember, you get what you pay for!

✅ Fun activities experienced
🌟 The kids tried the sheepskin raft, not only floating but also with a teacher explaining knowledge. They even "blew the sheepskin" themselves.
🌟 Visited the Western Xia Tombs and watched the 4D movie at the scenic spot. The kids said the movable type printing experience was very interesting, learning how to arrange typesetting and ink application. You can print both text and pictures.
🌟 Riding camels was especially fun, slowly enjoying the desert scenery with the kids, so relaxing.
🌟 Took five types of Northwest special transportation to tour Shuidonggou: donkey cart, horse carriage, camel cart, boat, and tractor canopy cart.
🌟 An intangible cultural heritage teacher taught the kids to sing local folk songs, helping them better understand Northwest cultural characteristics.
