The ancient roots of the primeval forests obscure the sun, while the ten-thousand-mu (approximately 10,000 acres) of larch forests are covered with dry lotuses, their thick carpet of pine needles forming a natural oxygen bar. The garden boasts over 1,900 plant species, 800 Chinese herbal medicines, and over 200 rare birds and animals.
