As a travel enthusiast, I rarely use the word "stunning" to describe a place, but Guifeng in Jiangxi, this hidden gem of a travel destination, truly amazed me!! Composed of Danxia landforms and bizarre peaks and rocks, it is a World Natural Heritage site and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Compared to those popular spots, there are fewer people and more beautiful scenery here. The landscape is simply a masterpiece of nature... If you don’t want to be crowded during the National Day holiday, this is the place to come!
Now, let me share my itinerary:
Day 1⃣ Climb Guifeng — Night tour experience
Day 2⃣ Visit The Wizard of Oz — Take a boat ride
Recommended three hiking routes:
1⃣ Turtle Line (2 hours)
Osmanthus Garden - General’s Tower - Hero Slope - Crape Myrtle Garden
2⃣ Xiake Line (8km, 3.5h)
Turtle Welcome - Century-old Path - Fairy Scattering Flowers - General’s Tower - Hero Slope - Crape Myrtle Garden
3⃣ Full Route (10km, 4.5h)
Osmanthus Garden - General’s Tower - Sandao Mouth - Southern Sky Pillar - Camel Peak - Clear Water Pond
Must-visit spots:
1⃣ Hero Slope: The rock wall steps are super impressive, perfect for photos
2⃣ Golden Bell Peak: You can overlook the entire scenic area, and there’s a cute rocking horse at the top! Don’t forget to check in with a photo when you reach the summit😲!
3⃣ The Wizard of Oz: Recommended to go between 8-9 AM to capture the same Tyndall light forest-style shots! You can also check in on the same route as Xu Xiake
4⃣ Guifeng Lake: Guifeng Lake looks like a green emerald dropped among the mountains. On the way down, you can take a boat ride or try bamboo rafting on the lake, which is quite fun. Not in Guilin, but you can get the same boating experience in Jiangxi🚣 on the clear water!
5⃣ She Shen Cliff: The cliffside plank road will get your heart racing
6⃣ Camel Peak: The best spot for viewing
7⃣ Night tour show: Unexpectedly, there are holographic projections, intangible cultural heritage iron flower performances, fire pot shows, and large-scale mountain and water live performances at night, very interesting!⌚ Night tour open from 19:00-20:30, iron flower and fire pot shows at 19:30, live performance at 20:00
Tips:
1. Prepare for sun protection; the scenic area provides free sunscreen spray, as Jiangxi’s temperature is quite high
2. Bring some snacks and water; although there are supply points on the mountain, the prices at the scenic area’s direct stores are reasonable
3. You can choose the slide to go down the mountain, which is both easy and fun
4. There is accommodation in the scenic area; I recommend staying overnight to explore slowly and enjoy the night tour show
(This time I stayed at Huajianling in the scenic area — the Bishui Danxin room is spacious and well located, right at the mountain climbing entrance)
