Until it officially became Mount Merapi National Park, a total of three stages have been passed by Mount Merapi and changes from start to finish. protected forest to nature reserves. In 2004, the status of a national park was finally achieved through the Decree of the Minister of Forestry 134/Menhut-II/2004 dated May 4, 2004. The status that changed from a protected forest or nature reserve to a national park did not have too big an impact on the surrounding community, apart from of course the economic value.
