Prambanan

Prambanan was one of the most stunning attractions I visited in Yogyakarta this time, truly magnificent!
It is a 9th-century Hindu temple complex with incredibly intricate architecture. The main tower stands tall and imposing, and seeing it in person is really breathtaking.
The entire temple is dedicated to the god Shiva, and the walls are adorned with many exquisite bas-reliefs depicting the story of the Ramayana. You can tell that ancient Javanese craftsmanship was of a very high standard.
Visiting in the afternoon is perfect to catch the sunset shining on the temple, creating a very atmospheric vibe. There’s also a chance to see the Ramayana ballet performance, highly recommended.
