Furong town (芙蓉, Fúróng Zhen) is an ancient town in Hunan province, China. Furong town was originally Xiyang district during the Western Han Dynasty, and it was also a trade port of Yongshun.


This ancient town was built in a very unique position when leaning against the Chongshan mountain range, from afar, Furong ancient town seems to hang on the Furong waterfall. The highest point of Phu Dung town is about 927m, standing at this position, you can admire the whole peaceful and ancient beauty.


Previously, Phu Dung town was also known as Vuong Thon. Later, when the movie "Fur Dung Town" (the movie won the 1987 Gold Award for the best Chinese movie) which was set here became famous, this town changed its name to Phu Dung, from then on officially entered the Chinese tourist map. The Tu Gia people are the original residents of Vuong Thon, and today Phu Dung town is a mixture of Tu Gia and Han people.


Phu Dung town is located between another famous tourist spot of Phuong Hoang district and Truong Gia Gioi city. Phu Dung town is 150 km from Phuong Hoang ancient town, 80 km from Truong Gia Gioi, so you can usually combine visiting these places. You should spend 5-7 days or more to leisurely enjoy and admire the scenery at these places. More time also helps you rest more reasonably because the distance between the places is quite far.
