BeihouTemple, located in Yuanshan Township, Yilan, differs from typical Taiwanese temples in its architectural design. While Taiwanese temples often feature red and gold, BeihouTemple is primarily black and brown. Its lack of carved beams and painted rafters creates a captivating JapaneseZen-inspired design.

The clay statue of Sakyamuni Buddha enshrined within the temple is approximately 5 meters tall and 3 meters wide, weighing 11 tons. It boasts a history of approximately 65 years and is constructed from local green bamboo from Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, with a covering of mud.
-
Shoes must be removed upon entering the temple, and candles are used instead of incense. Giant paintings of the Four Heavenly Kings line the temple walls, making them truly magnificent to behold!
