[Oita Prefecture/Yufu City] Amazing architecture with beautiful curves that you'll want to drop in on

Yufu City Tourist Information Center

Right next to Yufuin Station, I went to Yufu City Tourist Information. I had been curious about it for a long time, and finally made itπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή

The building was designed by Shigeru Ban, who is active both in Japan and abroad, including the "Shizuoka Prefecture Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center", "Oita Prefectural Art Museum", and "Zenbo Seikei" on Awaji Island.

The gently curved beams and pillars make it feel like you're in a forest.
With a completely glass-walled, innovative design,
you can see the majestic Mt. Yufu even while indoors.

Not only can you find tourist information about Yufu City and Oita Prefecture here, but there is also a library with travel books and an observation deck on the second floor.
While in Yufuin, you can think about your next trip. Lol

The free space on the first floor has seats where you can see the trains stop right in front of you, so it's fun to watch the various tourist trains stop. Lol

"Yufuin Chikki" inside the building offers a "Station Baggage Delivery Service" that will carry your luggage from the station to your accommodation, and from your accommodation to the station (only for accommodations affiliated with the Yufuin Onsen Tourist Association), as well as other convenient services such as "temporary baggage storage" and "rental of strollers and wheelchairs."

It's a facility where tourists, students, locals, and various other people can gather freely, and it's a warm place that makes you want to stop by when you arrive in Yufuin before heading home.
