KODAK was once a household name, but it couldn't withstand the tide of technology and eventually went bankrupt. However, in South Korea, there's a KODAK brand that creates a sense of contrast by selling nostalgic yet trendy clothing and accessories.
KODAK Apparel is a brand under Highlight Brands. The founder, Lee Jun-kwon, graduated from Yonsei University and has worked at South Korea's largest clothing company, collaborating with well-known sports brands. In 2020, he launched KODAK Apparel in South Korea, which quickly became a huge success.
Speaking of the Seongsu-dong KODAK store, it connects the nostalgic items like film and cameras displayed in the glass showcase with the trendy clothes they aim to sell. There's even a film projection next to the staircase on the first floor, evoking memories for those born in the 60s and 70s. In 2023, their revenue surpassed 100 billion KRW, and they plan to expand into the Greater China region next.
