Guangrenwang Temple

#chinatravel

The temple sits quietly behind a fringe of trees, its wooden gate gently weathered, the air carrying the scent of earth and something faintly floral. When we stepped inside, it felt like the world had dimmed not darker, just softer. We wandered without speaking, drawn to small things: an old water basin with fallen leaves drifting on the surface, a fraying red ribbon tied to a wooden post, the low creak of floorboards under our steps. In one corner, someone sat with their back to the wall, eyes closed, hands resting gently on their knees. It didn’t feel sacred or grand just honest. A kind of everyday peace that seeps into your skin without you noticing. We stayed longer than we meant to, not out of obligation, but because it felt good to be still.
