Getting Lost in the Wild Shapes of Shilin Stone Forest

#chinatravel Exploring Shilin Stone Forest feels like stepping onto another planet. The rock formations are super weird in the coolest way, like giant stone trees growing out of the ground. I didn’t really expect to be so into rocks, but walking through these narrow paths with tall spiky stones towering over you is kind of wild. Some parts are super quiet and feel like a maze, while other spots have tour groups and photo ops.

The place is huge, so wear comfy shoes and don’t rush it. There are signs pointing out the famous shapes, but half the fun is just finding your own way and seeing what weird shapes you can spot. It’s about an hour or so from Kunming, but totally worth the trip. If you’re into nature that looks unreal, Shilin is definitely a must-see. Bring water, and maybe a snack too.
