The Yuyao Museum is located on the picturesque western foothills of Longquan Mountain, covering an area of about 5 acres, with a total construction area of 1600 square meters.
At the entrance of the museum, a figure of an old man in a straw raincoat and hat stands on a small boat, propelling it along Yuyao's mother river, the Yao River, passing through Yuyao's 'smoky water and thousands of homes'. Visitors enter the museum along this 'clear and long waterway'.
The museum's basic exhibition is 'Smoky Water and Thousands of Homes - Exhibition of Ancient Yuyao Civilization', divided into five main sections: the Preface Hall, the Cultural Context of the Yao River, the Famous Towns of the Southeast, the Land of Literature, and the Flowing Charm of the Yao River. The main exhibition halls are the Preface Hall, the Ceramics Hall, and the Bronze and Jade Miscellaneous Hall, which vividly and comprehensively display Yuyao's historical culture using charts, models, sculptures, and electronic screens.
In the Yuyao Museum, the local splendid culture is well displayed: the profound ceramic culture embodies the crystallization of the life and art of ancient people; 'Three Whites and Three Hairs' recreates the product pattern of ancient Yuyao's agricultural economy; Yue cloth and Yao paper reflect the local characteristics of Yuyao's handicraft products.
