For this Echigo Yuzawa ski trip,
we chose Takahan, which is a short distance from Echigo Yuzawa Station.

Takahan is a 900-year-old hot spring hotel.
It is the place where the novel "Snow Country" by Kawazuyasu, Japan's first Nobel Prize winner in literature, was written.
There is a mini museum on the first floor of the hotel about the novel and the history of this hotel.

Gaoban provides a special car to pick up guests from and to Echigo Yuzawa Station.
The hotel is very antique and has a rich cultural heritage.
Although the hotel is historic, all facilities are very clean.
The room is spacious,
and the bathroom has shower facilities.
But I strongly recommend that you try their hot springs when you come here.
After skiing every day, go to the bathhouse to take a bath and soak in the hot springs.
It's so comfortable.

Sleeping on tatami is a great experience.
When you get up and open the curtains,
because the hotel is located halfway up the mountain,
the snow scene outside the room window is amazing.

Breakfast is served in the cafeteria in a buffet style.
I really like their mentaiko,
it's great with rice in the morning.

You can order hot pot in the evening and enjoy dinner in a private room. The ingredients are rich and the service is good.
