The Mysterious Kingdom That Vanished Overnight

The Guge Kingdom was an ancient kingdom located in the western region of Tibet's Ngari area. Over three hundred years ago, it mysteriously disappeared overnight, leaving behind ruins that have been designated as a national key cultural relic protection site. It is one of the most well-preserved ancient cities in Tibet.

When visiting the Guge Kingdom, it's essential to prepare for sun protection and bring a jacket, as the weather on the mountain can change drastically. The entire site is divided into three areas: the cave area, which mainly consists of residential houses; the palace area, which includes temples, stupas, and royal accommodations; and the royal district. Many exquisite murals have been preserved here, depicting the religion, daily life, customs, and stories of that era. Every year, it attracts numerous visitors and is a highly recommended destination.
