New Year's Eve in Yueyang Tower and Huangshizhai: Have you been there yet?

When people think of Zhangjiajie, they often associate it with Tianmen Mountain or Yuanjiajie. However, Huangshizhai (黄石寨, Huangshizhai) is actually the original tourist spot of the National Forest Park! The name means "fortress of yellow rocks," and once you visit, you'll understand why. The towering rock peaks look as if someone deliberately stacked them into a fortress.
I visited during the peak of summer, and once I reached the top, a gentle breeze made it refreshingly cool. With an altitude of about 1,200 meters, the temperature felt noticeably different. Although the climb was a bit challenging, the moment I reached the summit and saw the panoramic views of Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain, I thought, "Wow... this is why people come to Zhangjiajie!" The clear weather offered a wide visibility, and the scenery unfolded like a painting.
Interestingly, there are remnants of an ancient fortress at the summit of Huangshizhai. Surrounded by cliffs and peaks like a natural screen, it must have served as a natural fortress in the past! For those interested in Chinese history, this destination offers a bonus opportunity to learn.
Local residents suggest visiting on misty days for an even more spectacular view. The mountain ranges partially shrouded in clouds create an ethereal, fairyland-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, I visited on a clear day, so I missed out on that scene. Still, the view of Huangshizhai under the blue sky had its own unique charm.
