Fayun Temple | Zhengzhou's Most Low-key Millennial Ancient Temple, Located at Diehu Lake

🙏In the northwest corner of Diehu Lake, beside an inconspicuous mound, there is a temple. Two guardian deities stand guard at the temple gate. Although the interior looks a bit simple, it doesn't detract from the fact that this is a thousand-year-old temple—Fayun Temple.

🙏Fayun Temple, also known as Caogu Temple, was first built in the Northern Song Dynasty and has a history of more than a thousand years. Having undergone repairs throughout the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it still exudes a sense of age, especially the ancient ginkgo tree in front of the Ksitigarbha Hall, said to be the largest in Central Plains.

👉Fayun Temple is a municipal cultural relic protection unit. The gate is relatively simple, and many people may pass by without noticing it.
👉After entering, there is a relatively large space. The bulletin board next to it has an introduction to the temple, including the mound next to the temple, which has a significant history.
👉Burning incense is prohibited inside the main hall. The only incense burner is at the entrance. You can worship first and then tour. In addition to monks, there are also many nuns here.
👉The Ksitigarbha Hall behind the Mahavira Hall is currently under reconstruction and it seems it will take about a year to complete.

👉Just outside the temple is Diehu Lake. Many people take ancient-style wedding photos here, and you can see the Ring Bridge in the distance.
👉A large area outside the temple is a garden. This should be the site of the Caogu Temple. It should be very beautiful in summer.
