Zhengzhou has several parks or scenic areas characterized by metasequoia forests. Here are some well-known ones:
- Dongfeng Canal Ecological Cultural Park: Located in the northeast area of the intersection of Wenhua North Road and Sanquan Road in Jinshui District, Zhengzhou. It stretches from Sanquan Road in the south to Jialu River in the north, and is bordered by Wenhua North Road to the west, covering a total area of about 45.3 hectares. The park features large metasequoia forests along both sides of the river, as well as special landscapes such as wetland reeds and metasequoia forest walking trails.
- Zhengzhou Arboretum: Located about 1.5 kilometers west of the intersection of West Third Ring Road and Huagong Road in Zhongyuan District, covering an area of about 4,200 mu. The arboretum has a metasequoia forest of about 300 mu, planted in the early 1980s, with about 2,000 trees averaging around 15 meters in height. It also has boardwalks and viewing platforms.
- Yanming Lake Metasequoia Forest Scenic Area: Located in Yanming Lake Town, Zhongmu County, about 50 kilometers from downtown Zhengzhou. It is an artificial wetland park featuring metasequoia forests. The scenic area has large metasequoia forests and a rich wetland ecosystem, with leisure facilities such as sightseeing boardwalks and bird-watching platforms.
- Yellow River Guesthouse Metasequoia Forest: Located within the Yellow River Guesthouse, with one forest behind Hall 7 and another near the Ming Shi Tennis Club. The metasequoia forest is beautiful all year round, lush green in spring and summer, and turning golden yellow and orange-red in autumn and winter. However, some areas may require advance reservation for entry.
- Xinzheng Xuanyuan Lake Wetland Park: Located in Xinzheng City, the park has several metasequoia forests. Navigate to Xuanyuan Lake Park Viewing Platform to reach it. Here, mountains and water coexist, and the metasequoia forests are colorful in autumn and winter. It is a free and great place for walking and taking children out.
