Found a sparsely populated hiking spot in Guangdong!
I drove from Foshan to Zhongshan for an hour on the weekend and found a beautiful niche route. There were not many people along the way and the scenery was pleasant. The weather in Guangdong has not yet entered the hot summer, so it is very suitable for hiking!
Along the way, you will see Changkeng Waterfall, Xiaolan Reservoir, and Zhulin Stream... You may even meet people who bring their dogs to hike. The dogs are having so much fun playing in the creek. The waterfall is not in full water yet, so the water volume is not large. The water volume will become more and more turbulent starting from June.
Transportation Location
Navigate to "Xianzong Dragon Park"
Attention!! You don’t need to enter the park. Walk in from the left side of the park gate. You will see the big words "Heping Village". Next to it is a whole bamboo forest. This is the starting point of the hike. After entering the bamboo forest, you can start to follow the route navigation of the two-step road. It almost starts to climb from the starting point~2 Route Guide
The whole journey is about 8km and takes 3 hours.
Open the "two-step road" and the Changkeng Reservoir, and there are many clear hiking trails.
Walking route, you can click on the route navigation and follow the markings
It takes about 2 hours of climbing from the starting point to reach Changkeng Waterfall. The first two hours are basically continuous climbing, which will be quite tiring. After the waterfall, it is flat road. Walk along the reservoir to the end (the end is the starting point)
There is a place selling water at the starting point, but there are no supplies along the way, so remember to bring enough drinking water
'There is a long downhill road when approaching the waterfall. It is very steep, and the dirt road is sandy and easy to slip. It is recommended to wear non-slip hiking shoes and bring hiking poles. Some mountain roads are more dangerous. They are not all regular roads. There are muddy and gravel mountains. Remember to wear non-slip shoes.
Be careful to prevent mosquitoes and tree branches from scratching you. Wearing long sleeves and long pants is recommended. I wore shorts and got scratched a few times.
