Jiegu Town, an old place name, is now under the jurisdiction of Jiegu Subdistrict, Yushu City, Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and serves as the seat of the Yushu Prefecture and Municipal Governments. Jiegu Town has long been a major town in southern Qinghai, serving as a crucial post station and military base on the ancient Tang-Tibet Road, as well as a transportation hub and distribution center for supplies between Qinghai, Sichuan, and Tibet.
"Jiegu" means "material distribution center" in Tibetan. Because the Tongtian River, a river flowing through the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, flows nearby, it became the first densely populated area in the region. At around 7:00 AM on April 14, 2010, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Jiegu Town, causing extensive damage. Through the hard work of the local government and people, a new Yushu, a new Jiegu, has been rebuilt. Jiegu Town and its surrounding areas offer abundant tourism resources, including famous attractions such as Jiegu Temple, King Gesar Square, Princess Wencheng Temple, Changu Temple, and the Tongtian River Scenic Area.

Dangka Temple
Located on the mountainside of Dongfeng Brigade, about 10 kilometers from Jiegu Town, this temple, nestled against the hillside, is a truly magnificent sight. Dangka Temple boasts 108 wooden sculptures, arranged in two tiers. The upper tier features mostly Bodhisattvas, while the lower tier depicts human rights and wrongdoing, as well as karma (mostly depicting women being tortured, dismembered, or disemboweled).
Princess Wencheng Temple
Located in Benagou, about 16 kilometers from Jiegu Town, the Princess Wencheng Temple is a small yet exquisite structure that houses a statue of Vairocana Buddha. Over 1,300 years old, this temple is the most magnificent and precious historical and cultural relic left by Princess Wencheng during her journey to Tibet.
