Scenic Area Overview
Dajue Mountain is located in Zixi County, Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province, and is a national 5A scenic spot. It is famous for its steep peaks, primitive forests, and profound religious culture. It is known as a "natural oxygen bar." Dajueyan Temple, canyon rafting, and high-altitude plank roads are all core attractions.
Transportation Guide
- Self-driving: About 2.5 hours from Nanchang and about 1.5 hours from Fuzhou.
- Public transportation: Take the high-speed train to Fuzhou Station or Yingtan Station, transfer to a bus to Zixi County, and then go to the scenic spot; you can also take a direct bus to Zixi from Nanchang Xufang Bus Station or Fuzhou Bus Station.
Must-see Attractions
- Natural scenery: The 3.6 km-long Dajue Mountain Canyon Rafting with a drop of 188m (summer only) is super exciting; the 100m-high glass plank road is perfect for photo ops; and you can climb to the top of Nantianmen to see the sea of clouds.
- Cultural landscape: The ancient Dajueyan Temple is full of Zen; the ancient town film and television city has folk performances and is great for taking pictures.
Tickets and Opening Hours
Full price is CNY 120 (including sightseeing bus), rafting package is about CNY 260, and half price for students/seniors. Open from 8:00–17:30 during peak season (April–October) and 8:30–17:00 during off-season (November–March). It is recommended to buy tickets online in advance.
Accommodation Recommendations
There are high-end Dajue Mountain International Hotel and affordable B&Bs in the scenic area; Vienna Hotel in Zixi County has a high price/performance ratio and is a 15-minute drive from the scenic area.
Food Recommendations
Zixi bread is soft and delicious, Linchuan offal is spicy and satisfying, and wild vegetable bamboo shoots are refreshing and delicious. Dining in the scenic area is expensive, so it is recommended to eat in the county.
Itinerary
- One-day tour: In the morning, visit Dajueyan Temple, the glass plank road, etc., and in the afternoon, go rafting (summer) or visit the ancient town film and television city.
- Two-day tour: On the first day, visit the ancient town film and television city and stay in the scenic area; on the second day, hike and go rafting.
Travel Tips
Wear a life jacket for rafting and non-slip shoes for mountain climbing; the temperature difference in the mountainous area is large, so pay attention to keeping warm and protecting yourself from the sun; protect the ecology and abide by temple etiquette; the elderly and children should choose carefully, and check the weather before traveling.
