Chonglong Mountain is located in the center of Zizhong City. It has been a place of flourishing literature since ancient times, leaving behind many cultural relics. In addition to the Junziquan cliff carvings introduced in previous articles, there are also historical relics scattered throughout the mountains, which are full of humanistic style and noble spirit.
The first is the Yongqing Temple and the wooden archway, which are now a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan. Yongqing Temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty, continued to be built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The "Chonglong Ancient Relics" stone archway in front of the temple was rebuilt in the last century, but the 10 stone walls inlaid in the archway are original objects excavated from nearby towns and villages, and they are very exquisite when inlaid in the stone archway. The wooden archway in the temple is even more precious. It was originally the mountain gate of Yuwang Palace in Zizhou City and was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The entire wooden archway is made of spliced structures without a single nail. After more than 500 years, it is still very solid, with brackets and flying eaves, and is gorgeous and exquisite. In modern times, this archway became a witness to the Xinhai Revolution. Duan Fang, who came to Sichuan to suppress the Railway Protection Movement, was executed here. It was moved into Yongqing Temple in the 1970s.
In addition, there are several stone archways from the Ming and Qing dynasties, including the Xichang Shandou Archway and the Yuxu Palace Archway, all of which are protected by the county. There is also the provincially protected Shouyin Pavilion from the Qing Dynasty that was moved from the original Wanshou Palace. Unfortunately, it has been closed due to the risk of landslides and the trees are now very lush. Of course, there is another site in the nationally protected Chonglongshan rock carvings group - Gubeiyan. Most of it has been closed due to the risk of landslides. There are exquisite Longdong Grottoes and Gubeiyan and Huanyuchi stone carvings.
In addition, at the foot of Chonglong Mountain is the Zizhou Wenwu Temple complex introduced in the previous article. There is also the Dongyue Temple, which is currently used as a teacher training school and is basically closed to the public. The entire Chonglong Mountain is home to numerous ancient sites, which have always attracted many literati and poets to stop and visit, making it a worthy cultural paradise!
