Hidden among the mountains and waters of Guizhou is a charming village, featuring babbling streams and rustic stilted buildings that catch the eye. The village looks completely different by day and night, with rich folk performances waiting for visitors to experience. Staying here for a night and leisurely strolling through the streets and alleys is truly a rare pleasure.
📍Recommended location: Wujiangzhai International Tourism Resort in Zunyi, Guizhou. Easily accessible by car or high-speed train.
My 2-day 1-night itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Dongzhaikou → Heping Dyeing Workshop → Wu Paper Workshop → Yalu King Covered Bridge → Lusheng Square → Huilong Island Square → Qian Academy Hotel. Staying at Qian Academy Hotel grants free admission and a complimentary Hanfu experience, with a view of the entire Wujiangzhai from the fourth floor.
Photo spots:
1. Yalu King Covered Bridge Terraces: Capture stunning shots during the blue hour.
2. Huoshu Inn: Located in the middle of Zhilanjie Street, walking towards the river, perfect for photos.
3. Zhilanjie Street: Heping Dyeing Workshop and Wu Paper Workshop are excellent photo locations.
4. Qian Teahouse: An antique-style teahouse, even more beautiful when dressed in traditional costumes.
5. Above the roadside of Kuaidu Bookstore: Offers a panoramic view of the entire Wujiangzhai.
6. Yanhuang Teahouse: Window silhouette with river background, very atmospheric.
7. Taiyi Covered Bridge: Capture scenes of rowboats weaving between stilted buildings on both sides.
Daytime performance recommendations: Bamboo rafting on the terraces, ethnic dances, face-changing, acrobatics on the indigenous theater stage. Night performances include the lively street parade at Lusheng Square, the mass dance night, and a drone fireworks show, combined with the terrace music fountain, creating a visual feast.
For intangible cultural heritage crafts, you can experience handmade flower grass paper and bamboo weaving techniques, taught live by heritage masters, which is very meaningful.
In short, Wujiangzhai is a highly recommended tourist destination where the natural scenery, folk performances, and intangible cultural heritage crafts will leave you enchanted.
