In Sichuan and even China, there is such a saying: "Worship the water Dujiangyan, ask about Qingcheng Mountain", and the reason why this has become a saying must have its reason.

The reason for worshiping the water is that Dujiangyan is the oldest and only remaining grand water conservancy project in the world today, characterized by damless water diversion, and is known as the "originator of the world's water conservancy culture".

Its greatest thing is that the dam has been built for more than 2,250 years, and through the three main projects of Yuzui Diversion Diversion, Feisha Weir Spillway, and Baopingkou Water Diversion, the turbulent Min River is divided into the outer river and the inner river, the outer river is drained, and the inner river is diverted for irrigation.

As an irrigation and flood control project, it not only connects the internal and external streams, but also allows the natural swirl of the flood, and discharges excess water from the inland to the outflow to ensure the prevention of flooding, which is still in use today, becoming the "source of heaven" for the benefit of the vast Chengdu Plain.

When it comes to "asking Qingcheng Mountain", the knowledge is even more profound, Taoism has reason, morality, Taoism, just one Taoism is difficult to understand, and you must learn, visit, ask, understand, etc., so that you can understand a little superficial truth.

Taoism is named after "Tao", and "Tao" is naturally the basic belief of Taoism, which is called Taoism because it respects the Tao Te Ching (that is, Laozi) as the main classic.

There is a couplet in the Sanqing Hall of Tianshi Cave in Qingcheng Mountain, and the upper couplet is: "Tao gives birth to one, one life is two, two is three to three, and three is to give birth to all things." The lower couplet is: "Man follows the earth, the earth follows the sky, the heaven follows the way, and the Tao follows nature." This couplet comes from the Tao Te Ching of "Lao Tzu".

The upper couplet is from the perspective of embryology, believing that "Tao" is born from heaven and earth, and all things in heaven and earth are born from Tao, of course, including human beings and even each of us.

The lower couplet is from the law of movement of all things, that is, human behavior must follow the earth, the sky, and the way, that is, the law of "nature".

Therefore, Taoism believes that "Tao" is the maker and ruler of all things in the universe, "Tao" is omnipresent, omnipotent, supreme, "Tao" has absolute authority, omnipotence, immortality, universality, and is more mysterious for people.

etc. are very profound and difficult to understand, but some of its words also make sense, so they attract some Taoists to constantly explore and discuss, visit famous mountains, and visit Taoist friends to deepen their understanding and improve their self-cultivation.

Even if I travel hundreds of kilometers, I have to come here to visit Dujiangyan in person, and ask about Qingcheng Mountain, one of the birthplaces of Taoism in China.

below I wrote this article based on some of the knowledge and beautiful scenery I learned and photographed during this short trip to Sichuan, and share it with you.

Dujiangyan

City is a city with a history of more than 2,000 years, prosperous because of the dam, the oldest water conservancy project in the world, Dujiangyan, known as the "living water conservancy museum", "cradle of water culture", is a treasure in the history of water conservancy in China and the world.

Dujiangyan is located in Guankou Town, Dujiangyan, Chengdu, located on the Min River in the west of the Chengdu Plain, and the endless water of the Min River has become the source of life in the country of Tianfu, and has been known as a pearl embedded in Jinxiu Tianfu for thousands of years.

During the Warring States period, the people along the Min River suffered from floods every year, which seriously affected the production and life of the local people, and King Zhao of Qin sent Li Bing, a hydrologist of the Qin Dynasty, to take charge of the matter, and allocated 100,000 taels of silver for this, and also sent a team of tens of thousands of people to assist in the construction of embankments.

After receiving the decree, Li Bing examined and visited relevant personnel many times, summarized the experience of his predecessors in water control, and built a diversion embankment shaped like a fish mouth in four years according to the actual local situation, which is now the Dujiangyan water conservancy project.

The project uses the three main projects of Yuzui Diversion Diversion, Feisha Weir Spillway, and Baopingkou Water Diversion, as well as ancillary projects such as Baizhang Dike and Herringbone Dike, to cleverly combine them, on the one hand, to change the direction of some rivers, and on the other hand, to freely adjust the flow of water.

With their unremitting efforts, they finally divided the turbulent Min River into the outer river and the inner river, the outer river drained the flood, and the inner river diverted water for irrigation, especially during the flood season, the outer river took away 60% of the river water, and the inner river took away the remaining 40% of the river water, and the dry season was the opposite, making the western Sichuan Plain a "land of abundance".

I have to sigh that the wisdom of the ancients is extraordinary, when you stand on the Yuzui watershed, watch the river be divided in two, and tame it to obey, and then rush away, the shock in your heart is really indescribable, and you can only admire it.

Dujiangyan is not only a great project in ancient times, but also a famous attraction today, mainly including Nanqiao, Lidui Ancient Garden, Wotie, Weir Gong Road, Fulong Temple, Erwang Temple, Anlan Suo Bridge, Xiuzhi Jing Zhi Shui Dezheng Fang, Yuwang Palace, Yulei Pass, Fengqi Wo, Dou Xi Tai, Xuanwei Gate, City God Temple, etc., all of which are worth enjoying and playing slowly.

Qingcheng Mountain
